The Dot Collective is a registered charity and professional theatre company that tour professional theatre and creative activities including workshops into care environments for the benefit of those living in full time residential care, those with dementia and those with additional needs.
The Span Trust supported The Dot Collective to have a five metre aluminium truss rig made bespoke to their needs of touring in care. This truss rig was designed to be built by a minimum of 4 people and travel lightly in a transit van. The truss rig toured for the first time in summer 2023 for The Dot Collective’s production of ‘Alice’s Adventures in Aerialand’, an aerial circus adaptation of Lewis Caroll’s story ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’. The show toured and the rig was built in 35 unconventional theatre spaces including residential care home gardens, Community and town halls, parks and festivals. The rig will be used by The Dot Collective for further touring productions of this nature, as a way to bring the full aesthetics of theatre to those who cannot get to a theatre, thereby improving access and ultimately the health and well being of those in care and disproportionately isolated people.
